Take me back to Big Sur

2 weekends ago the beau and I drove north on Highway 1 for 3 1/2 hours up to Big Sur for a little escape. And an escape it was! We got up there and camped out at Pfeiffer State Park, had little to no cell service which made this much needed weekend feel even more like an escape from the world. Every now and then it's so nice just to be able to unplug from everything surrounding us!

We found this beautiful little hiking trail right off the road, at first we drove past & I wondered why there were cars parked alongside the road, as I kept looking down the canyon I noticed a trail, curious as to what it was the beau & I made a swift u-turn, parked and meandered down this trail only to find these beautiful ocean views! Turns out this trail is called Partington Cove Trail

WHERE TO EAT, SLEEP, HIKE-

Sleep:
If your planning on making a trip to Big Sur, I highly recommend booking your campsite in advanced, we were lucky to receive a first come first serve site, but they fill up FAST! These are sites that you can glamp at, okay, car camp but it makes it easy to not have to lug everything into your site.

I personally LOVE camping at Kirk Creek but beware, it does not have showers! However it doesn't get better than waking up to ocean AND mountain views! (take note, its also about 30 minutes away from the rest of Big Sur, where restaurants, the beach & lodging is located)

If campings not your thing, theres various lodges available here,  Deetjens is very quaint, while The Ventana and Post Ranch Inn are AHHHMAZING, they do fall on the pricier side!

If you are into 'packing in' there are some amazing trails to hike into that allow you to do so!

Eat:
Eat Breakfast or Dinner at The Big Sur Bakery (phenomenal wines & wood-fire pizzas)
Grab lunch at the Nepenthe, expect to wait 20+ minutes & request a table on the back patio
Grab a drink overlooking the ocean at The Ventana
Finish with a quiet dinner at Deetjens or splurge at Post Ranch Inn

Hike:
Various kid friendly, shady hiking options at Pfeiffer State Park
Down to the ocean (pics above) at Partington Cove Trail

If your looking for things to do, where to stay, what to eat, Big Sur has an amazing tourist website here!
