What is MUNFW?

Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Model United Nations of the Far West Conference in San Francisco. I was the delegate of Uganda on the Food and Agriculture Committee. We had three topics to address, Nutrition and Food Security, Agriculture and International Trade & the Implementation of the Right to Food at the National and International Level. This was a five day conference where we interacted as if we were apart of the United Nations (where my inner nerd got to come out!)

Luckily we had a little down time and we were able to go out into the city! SF is one of my FAVORITE places so I was bummed we only got one night to go out! We visited Rogue Brewery which I definitely recommend going to that's located in North Beach (not actually on a beach), they serve food as well which was nice since some of the Model UN people were under 21.

I can't wait to go back to SF and to be able to show you guys more of a photo diary! Here's some photo's of the weekend!

The Little White Dress

White White White, crochet, lace, eyelets, fringe, ruffles, I'll take it all!!! I consider the little white dress to definitely be more understated that what it should be...I ALWAYS find myself reaching for a LBD but with Spring & Summer on the rise, all I want is an LWD!

Instalife

Let's talk about school. School is kicking my BUTT! I am a political science major taking 18 units this semester with hopes to graduate in the Fall, so keeping up with my (non-existent) social calendar hasn't been the most exciting the past few months!
It seems these days the only way I've been keeping up with "the times" is through instagram!
How bout you ladies? What's keeping you busy and how do you manage your time so you can do the fun stuff?

Here's what's been going on lately...

This seems to be occurring wayyyy to often lately...

Trying on some new makeup!

Playing around with a rocker-chic inspired look

A few weeks ago I did go wine tasting in Santa Barbara's funk zone, love this sign!

Forever21 wedges, aren't these adorable? I'm not really a pink person and wasn't sure how much I'd wear them so I passed, BUT I did see them in black so I might just have to order them online!
You can find them here!

Mixed metals at breakfast

Thrifting with a girlfriend in Carpinteria, it felt like going back in time seeing all of these war remnants

Another little shop we came across in Carpinteria, I love all the pinks & purple crosses!

Some new booties I got!

My closet(s), well just the hanging stuff anyways...I am finding myself constantly dreaming of how to make it bigger!!!! I just did a closet clean out but you would NEVER know it!

Necklace- H&M, Leather Jacket- Zara, Nautical stripe T'- thrifted

Cozying up on the couch with some tea!

Last weekend was gorgeous in Santa Barbara! I made a point to lay outside & catch up on my "reading" and painted my toes :))
Sitting outside drinking some of the beau's homemade beer! If your into beer, especially IPA's check out the brewery he's starting here! It won't be open for a few more months but keep an eye out if your in Southern California!

I know the last thing I need is ANOTHER bag! But how cute AND affordable is this H&M one? What do you think ladies? Should I go back and get it??

Being silly & taking selfies! This past Saturday the beau and I went out with our married friends so I was super excited since it gave me a chance to get all dolled up!
PS this is the fur I got from the thrift store a few posts back, I finally picked it up from the cleaners and its perfect!

Some new make up I picked up, Ulta was having a 40% off Nyx & Revlon cosmetics so I grabbed a few items, the nude matte eyeshadow I got in Kiss the Day (18)- it creates the most perfect base! I'm also OBSESSED with the revlon lip butter stains, I have about 5 already! (let me know if you ladies would like to see a review?!!) Still not sure how I feel about the Smashbox foundation, I had an allergic reaction to a zit cream after going in the sun, so my skin is still not quite right :(
Oh and I loveeee the Bobbi Brown loose setting powder I got! I got it in Yellow 1- which I think is the lightest but it's very similar to the Ben Nye banana powder, only a tad lighter which is perfect for setting concealer!

Lust List- Forever21 Spring Items

I recently did a MAJOR closet clean out and found that I had so many pieces from Forever21 that I had held onto since high school! (I graduated in 2008)...there was nothing particularly special about them, I just had always worn them on one occasion or another, or they were apart of my daily wardrobe. Over the years my style has changed so I decided it was finally time to let them go. It seems funny that one would hold onto a piece regardless of what brand it may be, and although I don't own any Givenchy, Valentino, Louis Vuitton (aside from a vintage Chanel bag) these were still pieces that were of some worth to me. Maybe it's because since I was 13 I would buy my own clothes with my baby sitting money, rather than mommy & daddy taking me on shopping trips (aside from my birthday or Christmas), I suppose these items mean something because they remind me of the days when I would save up to buy something, and although I would spend on nicer items from time to time, I never had the ability or need to spend on these high brand named items as much!

PLUS being a college student without 'daddy's credit card' means that I'm more likely to buy a few things rather than one huge expensive item!

Sorry to disappoint those of you that may be looking to see those high end labels, but I'm sure the everyday girl isn't likely to go out and spend a grand on a bag or dress so here's some F21 picks that I think would be perfect for spring without the expensive price tag!

Lust List- Tribal Inspired

Going off of Thursday's post I will tell you guys that I have a slight obsession with tribal pieces! Since I am MAD about traveling, exploring the world and intrigued by cultures around the world, there's nothing like wearing a few tribal inspired pieces to keep the imagination running!
Here are some looks I'm loving!

Tribal prints AND leather!? Yes Please!!!

Throwback Thursday...Sapa

Sapa. Nestled in the northwest of the Vietnam mountains, home to the the Hmong Tribe, as well as the Dao, Pho Lu and Tay people. In the late 1880's the French colonized the region, where villa's and colonial style buildings were erected. At the end of WWII the region fell under attack due to the Viet Minh, and the city was destroyed. Yet when I visited there in May 2011 there was evidence of the colonial life that once inhabited the city. Tourism swiftly picked up within the past few years so I was eager to get my feet onto the ground!

Remnants of French colonial architecture

The Town

An array of quilts, skirts and bags made by the Hmong and Dao tribes

Every valley you look at looks like this, covered in rice patties, the valleys go on for eternity

Here is an excerpt from my journal when I was in Sapa.
May 22nd 2011
There are huge mountains surrounding the town, engulfed in a sheet of clouds. There are cobble stone streets lined with hotels, small 'minority' handicraft shops, massage and medicine bath houses and many different kinds of restaurants, all of which feature Sapa's pumpkin soup. The locals wake up and the streets begin to hustle around 7am, sleeping is not an option. People yelling, cars honking, or should I say motorbikes and there appears to be a loud speaker in just about every town, who knows what its shouting. Sapa is definitely a place I would come back to, maybe for a trek to Fansi pan mountain, which is Vietnam's tallest. The people are kind, yet the Hmong women, who are from the villages are the most persistent sales people! They shout "I sell you bag?" or just about anything they can come up with. They seem to have a limited vocabulary, but considering they learn it off the streets its fairly good. They don't seem to understand that no means no and "you buy from me?" certainly must mean you buy from them! They don't give up and even when you say you have no money left they don't care and tell you to go to an atm. It must be a hard life, living to support your family by selling on the streets every day.

Johanna who I traveled to Sapa with being urged to buy something!

Some of the Hmong tribe girls who I spent the 4 days I was there with

Aside from the persistent sales ladies, honking and loudspeakers I would give anything to go back to Sapa. I feel at ease in the mountains, and although I do love my heels, there's nothing like putting on your hiking shoes and exploring the hills of Sapa. Plus how amazing are all the tribal prints?! Here's some things things I picked up from the Hmong and Dao tribes! I am in love with the embedded metal and silver cuffs and all the hand woven work!
